Today, we're recognising the incredible contributions of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), their owners and employees.

In the UK alone, SMEs make up a staggering 99.9% of the business population, accounting for approximately 5.5 million thriving enterprises.

These dynamic organisations play a pivotal role in our economy, employing around 60% of the UK workforce and generating nearly 50% of the turnover in the private sector.

Back in June 2018, a UK government minister eloquently described SMEs as the "engine of our economy." Undeniably, they power our nation's growth and innovation and are the lifeblood of our communities.

However, it's been tragic to see thousands of SMEs struggle since then, with many closing their doors for good.

As you reflect on this reality, please, please, please support your local businesses.
